Our client brought a successful human rights complaint against her former employer and boss for sexual harassment (unwanted text messages), and received approximately $29,500 in compensation, including $12,500 tax free in general damages for injury to dignity, feelings and self-respect.

Jennifer Wiegele is an Associate practicing in employment law litigation as well as related administrative tribunal work, such as human rights, employment standards and privacy law.

Prior to joining Kent Employment Law, Jennifer articled and practiced at a leading Vancouver labour and employment law firm for six years where she gained extensive experience in employment law and related matters. She has assisted clients in achieving favourable resolutions of disputes including: wrongful dismissals, human rights complaints, disability claims, employment standards complaints, employment contract interpretation disputes, harassment issues and privacy complaints. Jennifer regularly advises on and drafts employment related agreements including employment contracts.
Some examples of recent matters that Jennifer has been involved in are:

  • Representing senior, long term employees, including executives, in negotiating and obtaining severance packages;
  • Advising departing employees and employers on non-competition / non-solicitation terms; and
  • Representing a local charity involved in a human rights complaint (settlement reached).

Jennifer is fluent in French and spent her final term of law school studying in Paris at Université Paris II, Panthéon-Assas. Jennifer regularly advises French speaking clients.

Jennifer is active in the legal community as well as in the wider community. Jennifer has authored papers which she has presented to the Continuing Legal Education Employment Law Conference held in Vancouver (these papers can be found here and here), she holds an executive position on the Board of the Human Rights subsection of the Canadian Bar Association and has provided pro bono legal advice through Access Justice. Jennifer is also a Community Council Member of the BC SPCA (Vancouver/Burnaby Branch).

In her time away from the office, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog as well as traveling, yoga and hiking.
